Green and black poison frog

*This animal is temporarily off exhibit. The coloration of these frogs changes depends on bodies exhibit regional variation, like green and black, red and blue. Green and black poison frogs have a flamboyant aposematic color. When they feel threatened, they will secrete extremely powerful poison from their skin. They accumulate this poison within their body by eating ants and flies in the wild, and when raised in captivity on a controlled diet they lose their toxicity.
