*This animal is temporarily off exhibit. Found in habitats such as deserts and grasslands, these owls live in burrows made by other animals, such as prairie dogs. Unlike most owls they are diurnal, and while they mainly feed on insects such as grasshoppers and bees, they will also prey upon some smaller reptile and mammal species.
