This species is endemic to Indonesia. Their fins are long and thin, and their bodies are white in color with three black bands. They are paternal mouthbrooders, meaning that males raise their young in their mouths. They keep the eggs in their mouths to protect them until they hatch. This takes between 20-30 days, during which time the male will not eat anything.
