Splendid garden eel

These eels are orange with white bands. They face their heads in the direction of the tidal current in order to catch and eat the plankton that are carried by its pull. When they sense danger they will immediately hide their entire bodies under the sand. Their bodies are usually half submerged in the sand, but at full length they are around 40 cm long.
